How we collect and use your personal information.

Who is responsible for your information

[to be added] (trading as Firewood Supply) is the "controller" of the personal information described here. You can contact us about it by email firewoodsupply044@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Orders: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, any delivery notes, what you ordered and how you said you'd use the fuel (for VAT).
  • Payments: your payment provider handles your card or PayPal details. We keep only a payment reference and the amount — never your card number.
  • Messages and enquiries: what you write to us through the contact and trade forms, with your contact details.
  • Browser storage: this site stores your basket, your delivery postcode and your light/dark preference in your own browser so the shop works. We don't currently use advertising or analytics cookies.

Why we use it

  • To take, deliver and support your order (this is needed to carry out our contract with you).
  • To keep accounting and tax records (a legal obligation).
  • To prevent fraud, keep the site secure and improve our service (our legitimate interests).
  • To answer your messages and enquiries.
  • We don't send marketing emails. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first.

Who we share it with

Only as needed to provide the service, and only with organisations that handle it on our behalf or under their own legal duties:

  • Payment providers (Stripe and PayPal) to take payment and process refunds.
  • Delivery partners and, for products sent from them directly, our suppliers — they receive your name, address and phone number so they can deliver.
  • Our email provider, to send order confirmations, and our website hosting and database providers, to run the site.
  • Professional advisers and authorities where the law requires it.

Moving data abroad

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep order and payment records for 6 years to meet tax and accounting rules. Messages and enquiries are kept for as long as is needed to deal with them and a reasonable time afterwards.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it (where we don't need to keep it), to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Contact us to use any of these rights.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
